Hi, I'm going to MetroCon (Tampa, FL) this weekend, but the girl who said will go with me dropped me.
Anyone want to go to that con? I can offer you a free ticket, and free hotel room(share with me, so FEMALE only), in exchange of some help during the con. It's not a busy con, so mostly just help me to watch my booth while I go to bathroom, and I probably would like to walk around buy something from other booth. And if you will like to sit in the booth talk to me a little bit, that will be even better. I don't quite want to sit alone all 3 days ~~~~(>_<)~~~~
For the hotel room, I booked a room in Hyatt Regency Tampa, 211 North Tampa Street, Tampa,  FL 33602 from Thursday(14th) to Sunday(17th) check out on Sunday morning. It's 0.4 miles from the convention center, but yes, you wouldn't want to walk that far. If you have your own car, that will be perfect. I'll drive to the con everyday tho, and you can always ask me for a ride.

Thursday is the move-in and set up day for dealers, so it will be really help if you could come on Thursday. It's really not much work to do, just really want some companies. I honestly really scared from the recent news.

Hi, I'm back to the conventions.
First Con this year, T-Mode in Washington DC, actually Rockville MD, but it's DC area.
It's a very small con with only about 3-400 attendee(that was including staffs). I was there last year. It was very sweet, that's why I travel so far for such a small con. It's a great place to meet friends, can really set down talk to people and not being rushed by crowd. Well, I guess that's how small cons are.
One of my friend JJ is going with me. She's a great fashion designer studied in Istituto Marangoni, Italy. She made some very cute jewelry and lolita costume. She don't have a website yet, but you'll see her there. This is her first con ever.

I do like big cons, that's how I make my living mostly. but they always has soooooo much trouble. I didn't get into Otakon, in the waiting list of AnimeNext which might never get me in. Before this was Anime LA, Ohayocon, Columbia Anime Con, etc..
I really hated Otakon. Last year I wasn't able to get in artist alley coz they said it was full.  But the truth is, 1/3 of the table was actually empty.  And this year, they sell artist alley by lottery. I never win a lottery in my entire life!!!!
Comiket do lottery too, but they go through all the artists' work first, only qualified good quality artists can get into the lottery level. Not like Otakon, they do lottery with who ever sent application. This is even worse than "first come first serve" rule. I can get into Comiket, but can never get into Otakon AA. Does that sounds funny.
Last year in Otakon, I even saw a booth in AA, the entire booth is selling works from one Chinese artist whom I know, but the artist was in China. I asked the people in the booth, they said their boss got the permission from the artist. That's so wired, I know many world famous artists, I can easily get their permission. Can I just sell their work in AA here? Those people running cons here don't know any thing about Doujin and Doujin circle!!!

I mean, does any convention in this entire country ever consider about the quality of artists' work? I hated the fact that in many cons, the artist ally are full of childish beginners' work, and many very great artists were telling me they cannot come coz they didn't be able to get the table.

I do believe there should be chance offered for young beginners, but does anyone ever considered the hard works behind good artists?  In many big cons, the table fills like one hour after it's open. If an artist really keep working on his art, he won't have time to go through every single con website every single hour to make sure he didn't miss it. I feel like I already spend all my spare time go through all the websites. I'm so sick of it.

Some of my friends and me were thinking about start a new con with Artist Alley only doujin con. No dealers, no art thief, no plagiarism. Thinking about doing it in New York. We'll can take the application half year, and pick good artists. For those who was rejected, we can give suggestion of all the work you submitted, and tell you some experience. We can really start build doujin circle. I can help in printing doujinshis tho. Will anyone be interested in this kinda thing?

Well, sorry about so much complaining, I just got little bit mad of the cons.

People keep asking me to sell the posters online, but for those who bought my poster from cons might know, I printed the posters with card paper, so it's almost impossible to roll up. If just a few pieces of the poster, would be really easy to break during the shipping. That's why I didn't offered online. I finally finished the new book on time so it can release on CD7, one of the biggest anime convention in China will start tomorrow. Actually today in China time. I cannot go back to China, so some of my artist will be there.
It's a 2 day convention(most of cons in China are just one day) hold on Feb 12-13 this year.

They sell pre-register tickets months ago, but they limited to like 1-2000 tickets. So must of people still have to go buy the tickets on con.

I'm really sorry for not replying notes and emails those days. Thank you for my greatest friend helping me replying the comments when I'm sick. Great thank you for you, and thank you for everyone who loves our arts. Your love is the reason we keeping going.

I caught a cold after came back from New York, because tiredness(played too much maybe). I haven't got sick for about 4 years, so this time was really serious. Old Japanese saying says:"The Fool Doesn't Catch a Cold." It's totally a lie > <

And I felt done from the bus on 7th, the setting up day for New York con, wearing very short dress, so my knee hurt really bed. I didn't had time to see the doctor through 3 days con. As the sand on the ground stayed, it got worse. It has been almost three weeks, still haven't healed yet.

And (yes, there's more), I lived in a friends house, which has bedbug. I really appreciated he let me stay and gave his bed to me, and slept on the ground. It just, the bedbug became a big headache in my NY trip. The interesting thing is, the bedbug don't bite anyone else but me. That was just totally unfair. I got around 40 bites after all. Almost eaten by bedbugs. Luckily my friend in bio-chem major just made me a kinda medical for bug bites(I was very easy to get mosquito bites), and it came right on time, saved me from the bites.

Besides those, everything else is cool in New York. My friends came from everywhere. Totally 18? 20? I didn't even count. 7 or 8 of them came from Canada for the con. Most of others we haven't see each other for years. We went to dinner concert, Karaoke, and party before bed, like in college.If you were in NYCC/NYAF and stopped by our booth, you might already met some of my them.

I'm thinking next time we should can just host a pure Artist Convention, and offer free tickets for everyone to come to have fun with us.╮(╯▽╰)╭

Back to the topic, my next convention is MangaNext, East Brunswick, NJ,October 29-31 2010 which is this weekend. I have only one table in artist ally. Hope you could still find me. I think this would be a great con, you enjoy the convention fri-sun and go see the Halloween Pride in New York City on Sunday evening. Halloween is always a sleepless night in NY. I remembered 2 years ago I took bus back home on 4am the morning after Halloween, the bus was very crowd.

I'm taking bus to NY, since I don't think I should driving when I'm sick. I'm trying to find someone who can pick me up in NY, share the hotel room and give me ride from hotel to con every morning. I know it's a very last min change, but if anyone could help, I would be really appreciate.

MangaNext will be my last convention this year.
In Nov. and Dec., my group and me will give our fist try on self-publish.

Sorry about haven't reply your comments and notes for a few days. I just got back to New York for our biggest convention in the year: New York Anime Festival Oct 8-10 !!!

This year, they combined New York Comic Con and New York Anime Festival, made it the biggest con in east coast. Hosting company said it will be around 80,000 people participating in the con.

I was living in New York, have all my good friends in New York, and NYAF is a place I started bringing our arts to US. So this is a con I prepared most carefully. If you love anime, love arts, don't miss this chance to meet us in NYAF.

We have a booth in dealers' room anime area, No. 3146 and Artist Alley. Some of our artists will show up in the con.

Mid-Autumn, also known as Moon Festival, is one of the most important holiday in China. It is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in Chinese calendar when the moon is supposedly at its fullest and roundest.
This year, its Sept 22 which is tomorrow.
In Chinese, “round” also mean reunion. Mid-Autumn is the time family members reunion together eat mooncake.

Happy Mid-Autumn to everyone. Remember go out to see the round moon, and buy some mooncake to share with your family. You should can find mooncake in most of the Chinese store.

I start doing conventions in US a year ago, to promote some Chinese artists and their work, also hopes I can open an window for people who loves anime and arts to know more about Chinese culture.
My first convention was NYAF 2009, 09/25-09/27/2009.
Memorize is a calender which I designed for my anniversary. It comes from 12 top Chinese water color artists. I put a short intro of the artists on the back of each page, and marked important Chinese holidays (like Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn) with the their stories on the calender, hope it could help more people to know more about Chinese artists and culture.
