The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Hi, I'm going to MetroCon (Tampa, FL) this weekend, but the girl who said will go with me dropped me.
Anyone want to go to that con? I can offer you a free ticket, and free hotel room(share with me, so FEMALE only), in exchange of some help during the con. It's not a busy con, so mostly just help me to watch my booth while I go to bathroom, and I probably would like to walk around buy something from other booth. And if you will like to sit in the booth talk to me a little bit, that will be even better. I don't quite want to sit alone all 3 days ~~~~(>_<)~~~~
For the hotel room, I booked a room in Hyatt Regency Tampa, 211 North Tampa Street, Tampa, FL 33602 from Thursday(14th) to Sunday(17th) check out on Sunday morning. It's 0.4 miles from the convention center, but yes, you wouldn't want to walk that far. If you have your own car, that will be perfect. I'll drive to the con everyday tho, and you can always ask me for a ride.

Thursday is the move-in and set up day for dealers, so it will be really help if you could come on Thursday. It's really not much work to do, just really want some companies. I honestly really scared from the recent news.
